On St. Patrick's Day it is always fun to go all out in green, especially in my family because it happens to be my sister's birthday. It isn't hard to go crazy with green clothing but you could choose to dress formally but in the spirit of the Irish. Try green and silver or gold as color combinations, dresses are great for formal wear. If you are more casual you can try a green t-shirt and/or pants with loads of green and gold beads, also those little leprechaun hats!
