Bleaching your teeth can be dangerous that's why there are professional kits like the Crest White Strips. Those and others can be expensive, however they do work. To get nice white teeth without spending a fortune just get a toothbrush and dampen it with bleach and brush, but DO NOT SWALLOW the bleach. Spit the residue out and rinse your mouth with water. Over time your teeth will look whiter.
I use the white strips but I have two caps over the teeth next to the front ones because my real teeth were too small and had a gap. So the caps don't react to the strips and remain the ugly, yellow or continue to darken while my other teeth get nice and pearly white. This makes the two caps stand out more.
