Polo Shirts: Lacoste & Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren Polo shirts   Ralph Lauren Women's Big Pony Skinny Polo Shirt Yellow

Both of these brands have a polo shirt, but what's the difference?

To the "untrained" eye these two brands of polos would look identical, wrong! There are alligators on the Lacoste polos and a man on a horse playing polo on the Ralph Lauren shirt. To me there is no other difference.

Both brands make polos for men and women. They come in all sorts of colors with a collar and a few buttons at the neckline. And of course each brand logo on a side of the shirt.

There are other brands with polo shirts like IZOD. All are around $65.00, who would pay that much for a shirt when you can get a $13.00 Hanes shirt that looks exactly the same!

Word of Advice (W.o.A)
Do not "pop the colla" on these shirts, you'll look absolutely stupid...

Monthly Me!!!: Sans Souci Polka Dot Shirt

It's a slightly old shirt but I love it! I wore it today for picture day at my high school.  I also wear this shirt practically every few weeks! I need some new shirts! It is a slight high-low shirt with a button in the back to draw in the waist. It's a flowy material with "baggy" arms.

  •  With a black tank underneath it seems a but less see through, but it's definitely a shirt that needs a tank top.
  • I wear it with my brown oxfords and pearl earrings to match the polka dots.
  • Red or dark pink lipstick goes well with this outfit and sometimes I'll do a vintage hairstyle with it.
  • Necklaces are optional for this outfit because the shirt is already eye catching!
  • If I go out somewhere, then my brown side bag is always with this outfit.

Sans Souci(Carefree in French) is the brand, about $15+ at TJMaxx

Pleated Dresses

Pleats are a great casual/dressy style. You could have a long, baggy dress with no shape to it, but then with pleats it is completely different. Pleats add a bit of a bounce and swish to the dress with each step you take.

Some pleated dresses have the pleats on the chest area as well as the bottom half. This is perfectly fine and continues the flow of the dress. Small pleats or large pleats, either or are fine. Some super small pleats can't even be seen unless you touch the material or get close enough to notice.

Letterman Jackets

Letterman Jackets are traditionally worn by sports players in high school. You can look back at old teen movies and see the jocks wearing them. They were in style back in the late '80s and early to mid '90s.

They have come back, but now for normal use. It is made in both girl and guy sizes, fits, and colors. The sleeves are different colors and materials that the vest area. They tend to have school letters, names, and sport symbols on the sleeves, chest, and sometimes back.

These jackets are thick and warm and are great for the cold weather ahead!

Band Tees

Band T-shirts are something everyone has, or should have. A great band or a local band you're publicising. These shirts are available at Hot Topic or try any other store in your mall. It is not worth spending $35 and up for a T-shirt at a concert, well unless you really want it! (I got a Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, and David Archuleta shirt) Tees at concerts are a rip off though.

You can also look into making your own band T-shirts by printing or buying a tee iron on and any shirt color of your choice!!! "SAVES MONEY!"

School Spirit

Paint your nails, paint your faces, do your eye shadow, wear school shirts and sweatshirts, colored cardigans, etc. Anything that is in your school colors get it! Be proud of your school!

What you should have

  • Mardi Gras bead necklaces
  • At least one school shirt
  • Scarves
  • Cardigans
  • Nail polish of your school's colors
  • School colored eye shadow
  • Face paint and temporary hair dye (for super spirit days, not normal spirit days)
My school colors are maroon and gold. I have gold knock off TOMS, bead necklaces, school shirts, a maroon cardi, school socks socks, scarves, colored hair ribbons, etc.

School colors are normal colors that are on everyday clothing so just finding a "gold" shirt is something that is stylish and versatile for spirit days!

Thrift Stores

You'd be surprised at what type of clothing you can find at a thrift store! Old and new, gently used clothing, shoes and accessories are all available. Whether you go to the Salvation Army, Good Will, or a local thrift store you will always find a rare and unique piece of clothing.

Decade clothing is hidden in the mountains of clothing as well as modern ones too. If you like button up shirts and Tees then you'll find tons of them! The great thing about thrift stores is that they have old clothing that comes back in style.

Take a stop by your favorite or local thrift store and buy something, help out their organizations and foundations!

Harajuku Lovers Perfume Review

Guen Stefani knows how to appeal to the youth with her super cute and lovely smelling perfume! Harajuku Lovers is the name of these doll topped perfumes. They come in a range of scents depending on the theme. Winter, summer, and school girl, the original theme, all have their own scent that tend to stay similar throughout the different themes. There are even some exclusive scents and themes of "G" Gwen's doll such as the Santa Clause and mermaid theme.

There are five different girls in the group.

Love smells like peaches, jasmine, nectarines, ylang ylang flower, vanilla orchich, musky and wody too.

Lil' Angel has a citrus fragrance, pinapple, candied ciolent and lollipop accord.

G has an oriental, fruity smell with scents of coconut, jasmine and cotton wood.

Music has a fruity scent it also smells like pears, sweet pea, and honeysuckle.

Baby has a fresh clean and soft powdery floral fragrance with notes of white rose, orange flower and white musk.

The prices range from $13-$25, and you can always find them in TJMaxx and Marshall's for discounted prices.

P.S. Weird video...

Weekly Review of Forever21 Apparel: Zippered Straight Ankle Pants

From Forever21's Contemporary section, this outfit is super adorable. The Contemporary section is school teacher like and also old lady-ish but in the stylish side of them. This section also has a hipster and vintage vibe. For $22.80  you can get these zippered straight ankle pants in "brick" or "tan". I prefer the brick color because it stands out more and it's an unusual color, whereas the tan blends in with a white skin color and is similar to khakis. Ankle pants are in! They are not capris and not the normal length of regular pants or jeans. They rest around your ankles so you can show off some rocking heels or cute boots. The "zippered" part of these pants' name is from the zippers on the inner bottom leg that aren't apparent in the pictures.

Birthstones

Everyone should have a piece of jewelry with their birthstone on it. Mine is Garnet for January and I have a tiny gold bear with little "diamond" balloons from Walgreens. Even if it is from a drugstore, it is the thought that counts from who ever gives it to you or if you get one yourself.

There are necklaces with your name on it as well as the stone. Some have cute sayings or your age for that year on them. Class rings, bracelets, regular rings, necklaces are all common for having birthstones on them.

Don't know your birthstone, check the chart above or online. Also look into your birth months' flower, just something to cutsie up your day. ;)

10 Haircut Tips

It's a new school year and picture day is coming up! If you already got your pics taken, too bad I was late on these tips. So before you get your picture taken it's always great to get a fresh hair do. You're pic will look much better without your split ends from summer.

Tip 1: Don't do anything too daring for your haircut.

Tip 2: Get your dry ends chopped off but maybe add some layers or a V or U shape to your hair bottom.

Tip 3: Don't get bangs! What if they turn out super bad... right before picture day! Save it for later in the year.

Tip 4: Try not to go too short with your hair; this again might turn out unlike you dreamed it to be.

Tip 5: Research your face shape's best hairstyle.

Tip 6: Don't always rely on hairstyle magazines because the models don't have your face shape or personality. So decide on a style that fits YOU!

Tip 7: Go to a trusted hair salon and pick out your hair dresser well. (Hint!!!) The gay male hair dressers are usually the best! ;)

Tip 8: Don't cut your own hair, even if it saves you money, you'll be disappointed!!!

Tip 9: Ask for any special serums or sprays for your hair at the salon, sure they are expensive but most of the time they work and leave your hair smelling wonderful!

Tip 10: Try out a new trend that you know will work for you, but not a crazy one.

TLC: 5 Fun Back-to-School Outfit Ideas

http://tlc.howstuffworks.com/style/5-fun-back-to-school-outfit-ideas1.htm

TLC Style "5 Fun Back-to-School Outfit Ideas"

1 Girls: The Boho Flow

Soft, feminine and free-spirited, the bohemian look is everywhere now, and it works for all ages and body types. Loose, printed tunics over jeans, flowing maxi skirts with crop tops, and wide-leg pants paired with embroidered, cotton, gypsy-style blouses are staples here, and the shoe options range from leather platform sandals to canvas flats to slouchy, suede knee boots.
Try this:
  • Wide-leg, soft linen pants
  • Silky, hip-length blouse, belted at the waist (something wide, suede or leather)
  • Neutral gladiator sandals
  • Long, beaded necklace
  • Mixed-metal bangles

2 Guys: Too Cool

The "sensitive bad boy" look pretty much always works (especially when the wearer is a sensitive good one). If this is the year you go hip, you might go back to school in something a little bit emo – but please, not all black. So dull.
Try this:
  • "Old" graphic tee (possibly retro)
  • Skinny, dark-wash jeans
  • Hoodie
  • Studded leather belt
  • Chuck Taylor-style high-tops

3 Girls: Oh, So Sweet

Young or old (and by "old" we mean, like, 17), school-girl chic is, well, chic. Think Rachel Berry minus the reindeer and the crippling insecurity.
A mini skirt, waist-length sweater, and Oxford shoes are your basics here. Knee socks are optional, and shorts under the skirt are very highly recommended.
Try this:
  • Lightweight, girly sweater (a subtle neck frill or Peter Pan collar work great)
  • Plaid mini skirt
  • Solid knee socks or leggings
  • Oxfords (platform ones, for the grown-up girls)
Top it off with a narrow headband. It's still in.

4 Guys: Laid-back Layered

Fashion ain't just for the ladies, and one of the best looks on a guy is the effortless, "I just threw this on and I look good" style you see so often on Hollywood's quirkier leading men. Two pieces on top -- a T and a button-down (un-buttoned) -- layer to create a look that's a tiny bit grungy but mostly pulled together.
Try this:
  • Solid, neutral T or faded, graphic one
  • Short-sleeve, plaid button-down
  • Dark wash jeans
  • Retro-style sneakers
Slightly tousled hair will finish off the look, if you've got the length for it.

5 Girls: The Boyfriend (Blazer)

This trend has been around for a couple of years now and shows no signs of slowing down. The "boyfriend" blazer, a classic suit-type jacket, a bit shrunken, occasionally broken-in, pairs beautifully with slouchy "boyfriend" jeans and flats. For the late days of summer and early fall, go with something lightweight -- cotton or a linen blend.
Try this:
  • Boyfriend blazer in black
  • Faded, cropped boyfriend jeans or dark-wash skinny jeans
  • Fitted, button-down top
  • Flats or ankle booties
Toss a printed scarf on top to girly it up a bit, and consider a mini leather cross-body bag to finish the look. It won't hold any books, but it's really cute.
